Facing a cancer diagnosis three years after being scouted to model, I started to wonder if I would still be a desirable candidate now that I was visibly disabled. After being in remission for three more years, already making my mark as a young teen in the newsroom, I pitched my idea to the Toronto Star: how accepting is the fashion & modeling industry of models with disabilities? I sent my resume to a dozen agencies, accompanied by professional photos, and recorded each response. The result was an informative piece of inspiring investigative journalism, revealing the realities of disability discrimination.

This position led to my connection with Canadian-Indigenous Fashion Designer, Lesley Hampton, whom I modeled for in a handful of runway shows after the Toronto Star article was published.
